The Tom Moffatt Waikīkī Shell is a premier outdoor concert venue designed for live music performances, festivals, and large-scale gatherings. Set against the iconic backdrop of Diamond Head and located just across from Waikīkī Beach, the Tom Moffatt Waikīkī Shell offers a unique open-air experience unlike any other.
The venue features a shell-shaped stage with acoustically sophisticated design, allowing sound to carry clearly throughout both reserved seating and lawn areas. Surrounded by lush greenery and open skies, the Tom Moffatt Waikīkī Shell is especially suited for evening and twilight events.
The facility includes a large performance stage, dressing rooms, convenient work areas, and professional lighting and sound capabilities, supporting a wide range of production needs.
Seating capacity includes approximately 2,400 fixed stadium seats, an additional 6,000 capacity on the lawn, and a front “pool” area that accommodates 495 guests theater-style or 320 guests with banquet table seating.
The Tom Moffatt Waikīkī Shell borders the Kapiʻolani Park. Patrons are able to use the park’s car lots to attend events. The venue includes front-of-house staffing, food and beverage service options, and restroom facilities to support guest comfort.

The Tom Moffatt Waikīkī Shell seating layout includes a front pool seating area closest to the stage, lower terrace seating behind the pool, upper terrace seating behind the lower terrace, and lawn seating at the rear (not pictured). Accessible seating is available in designated areas throughout the reserved seating sections, with additional accessible lawn space.
Seating capacities are approximately 495 seats in the pool area, 1,030 seats in the lower terrace, and 928 seats in the upper terrace. The lawn area (not pictured) has a maximum capacity of 6,000 guests.

Tom Moffatt Waikīkī Shell Full Grounds Map Description
The Tom Moffatt Waikīkī Shell venue is located within Kapiʻolani Park and is surrounded by open green space, pedestrian pathways, and nearby park amenities. The stage is fronting the pool seating titled “Waikīkī Shell”.
The pool and fixed seats are positioned between the stage and the lawn, with the lawn extending back up the hill. Diamond Head Greens is an area of the Tom Moffatt Waikīkī Shell behind and below the lawn.
Primary guest entry points are located along the front perimeter of the venue near the city parking lot. The box office is positioned near the main entrance area, along with nearby gate access points.
Concession areas are located within the venue near the main paths at the front perimeter. Restroom facilities are available on-site and are positioned along the outer edges of the venue.
Back-of-house and support areas, including access routes for staff and production, are located behind and to the sides of the stage. Additional venue infrastructure such as lighting towers and sound positions are integrated within the seating and lawn areas.
Parking for the Tom Moffatt Waikīkī Shell is available in the adjacent city parking lot located directly in front of the venue entrance.
Tom Moffatt Waikīkī Shell Specific Entry Rules
Entry procedures and permitted items may vary by event. Guests can reference the general guidelines below:
- NO coolers or outside food and beverages allowed (including HydroFlasks, Yeti containers, and other double-walled containers)
- NO chairs with legs, including beach or inflatable chairs, are allowed
- NO smoking except in designated areas
- NO pets allowed
Service animals are trained to do work or perform a task for persons with disabilities. Comfort and/or emotional support animals are not service animals, and are NOT recognized by the ADA. - Bags must not exceed 12” x 12” (one per person and subject to search)
- Clear, empty plastic bottles are allowed
- Baby bags with snacks, formula, and milk are allowed
- Umbrellas 36” or smaller are allowed
- Blankets, towels, and back rests are permitted
- Bag check is not a storage area for prohibited items. Neal S. Blaisdell Center and event security are not responsible for items left at bag check. Guests are responsible for securing any items not permitted inside the venue.
- Outside alcoholic beverages will be confiscated. Guests under the age of 21 found consuming alcohol are subject to ejection and/or arrest.
